“Legal Graffiti” is an event hosted at Zarzaur Law during each Gallery Night in downtown Pensacola. “Legal Graffiti” is an opportunity for anyone to make a donation and then create artwork on the (recycled billboard vinyl-covered) side of the Zarzaur Law office building using spray paint. The event raises money for non-profits & charities within the area. Donations are matched by the firm and given to the charity of choice. In the past six years of hosting the “Legal Graffiti” event, the firm has donated more than $100,000 to local charities. Black History Month Trailblazer: Brian Wyer, Gulf Coast Minority Chamber of Commerce President and CEO

Brian Wyer - Chamber of Commerce President and CEO

What Do You Plan To Do As President And CEO Of The GCMCC?

I started with the Gulf Coast African American Chamber of Commerce as Executive Director in August 2017. During my first year with the chamber, it was determined that we needed to re-brand.

On October 1st, 2018, we officially opened the new Gulf Coast Minority Chamber of Commerce.

I have been the President/CEO of the chamber for the past 3 years. My current goals are to re-introduce the chamber to our community through “Getting Back to the Basics.”

Who Are You And Why Do You Do What You Do?

I was born and raised in Pensacola, FL. I went to Catholic High School and then graduated from UWF with a Management Information Systems degree in 1991. I then spent 22 years working in IT management in Tampa. I returned to Pensacola in 2013 and switched my career to non-profit leadership with the goal of having a positive impact on our community. I have been happily married to my beautiful wife, Harriett, for 28 years and have three children: Steven, Brianna, and Kendra.

As a leader, I am motivated to help create economic equality within our community. The basic premise is that ALL people should be treated fairly. As I network with various groups, I have gained additional insight into areas where improvements are needed. Economic equality has a massive impact on areas such as education, health, politics, and crime.

My involvement in Achieve Escambia, the Equality Project Alliance, the Mental Health Task Force, and the Baptist Community Advisory Council has allowed me the opportunity to meet a wide variety of leaders across numerous sectors of our environment. My goals have been to listen, understand, and gather various viewpoints. Once the information is obtained, I can present it to the community. The requests to share this knowledge are my motivation to educate our community on disparities and brainstorm areas where we can dedicate resources. My motivation is to have a positive impact on society by serving as a role model and leading others to challenge injustices.

What Is Your Passion And Vision For The Growth And Development Of Minority Entrepreneurship In Our Community?

My passion for the growth and development of minority entrepreneurship stems from the concept of creating more generational wealth. Numerous studies have determined that the best way to elevate our society is for our current generation to become more successful, which in turn will make life better for the next generation.

As new businesses are created and grow, they will:

1. Increase the number of employees.

2. Use passive income to purchase more services or goods.

3. Invest more in savings or stocks.

4. Provide more opportunities to the rest of our community. This will result in families investing more resources in their children through better education and skills. It will allow the parents to leave more resources to the next generation and bypass many of the challenges that their previous generation has encountered.

What Is Your Historical Influence?

From a historical perspective, I am influenced by the actions of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was killed the same year that I was born, and segregation ended only four short years before my birth. Significant strides have been made since these events took place, but improvements are still needed. MLK Jr. influenced me with his handling of inequality through peaceful actions. In the face of violence, injustice, and personal threats, he remained steadfast in addressing the challenges of ending inequalities.

Zarzaur Law, PA Offers Virtual Meetings in Wake of Cornonavirus (COVID19) Outbreak.

Zarzaur Law's Joe ZarzaurIf you have a serious injury case, action shouldn’t be delayed.

If you are unable to meet in person due to the coronavirus (COVID19) outbreak or any other reason, please contact us.

We’re still here working. We conduct virtual meetings with our clients regularly, and will do it for you.

Zarzaur Law, P.A. is aware of the coronavirus (COVID19) concerns of everyone in our community.

For over two weeks, the firm has taken steps to insure that our office is sanitized for each client. We have also taken extra steps to make certain that all staff members are symptom free and that their body temperatures are normal prior to coming to work. Further, we have inquired and insured that no staff member has come into contact with any international travelers or national travelers that may be coming from domestic hot spots in their free time. If they have we have asked them to self quarantine for two weeks.

We will continue to see clients, one at a time, to make sure that all clients with personal injury legal issues are handled in a timely and professional manner. The firm also recognizes that given the cancellation of schools and other institutions, many potential new personal injury clients cannot attend meetings “in person”. To address this issue, our firm -which has always offered “virtual meetings” with potential clients- has stepped up our technological capabilities and is utilizing Zoom® video conferencing software/hardware to provide high quality video conferencing for any potential personal injury client to have a free face to face consultation with one of our personal injury lawyers. As always, the firm will continue to speak to each potential client first by phone and if the matter results in a meeting we will provide the potential client to attend such meeting via video conferencing and provide all documents to you electronically. This will permit the hiring of our firm for your personal injury case to be consummated without requiring you to leave your families and home.

Exact instructions for these consultations will be provided during the initial call with our firm. These procedures will go into effect immediately and will continue until our community is completely on the other side of this COVID19 issue.

We urge everyone to heed all recommendations provided by our state and federal scientific communities and to stay put in their homes and not to congregate in crowds, adhere to stringent personal hygiene protocols, and make certain to be aware of those in your families that make up the high risk group for coronavirus.

Zarzaur Law, P.A. Sponsors Local Girl Scout Troop and Ocean Hour Florida on Project. First of Two Toy Borrow Bins Installed on Pensacola Beach.

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Sept. 11, 2019) — The first of two beach toy borrow bins were installed on Sunday, Aug. 25. The first bin has been placed at the kids play area and beach at Flounder’s Chowder House on Pensacola Beach. Zarzaur Law, P.A., a personal injury law firm based out of Pensacola, Florida sponsored the project headed up by Ocean Hour Florida and Girl Scout Troop 1104.

The bright blue bins were designed and built by Girl Scout Troop 1104 as a part of a Silver Award project and to help with the continued efforts by Ocean Hour to keep our beaches clean, marine life safe and reduce the plastic pollution in our oceans.

“There is a large bulk of left behind beach toys we pick up each week during our beach clean ups.” Says Jenn Deubler of Ocean Hour. “We hope these borrow bins will provide a place for the toys to be used and returned for the next child and reduce the amount of discarded toys that end up in our waters.”

The signage on the bin provides information about how to use the borrow bin along with the importance of conservation.

“We picked this project because we wanted to help the community by cleaning the beaches and saving the turtles.” Said members of Girl Scout Troop 1104. “We hope hope all the kids like the bins and use the beach toys.”

“Anytime our firm can help make our community safer, better, or more environmentally friendly, count us in.” Said Joe Zarzaur, founder of Zarzaur Law, P.A.

The second beach toy borrow bin will be installed near the Our Lady of Mission Church on Pensacola Beach on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1:00 p.m.

Public Art in Pensacola Flourishes with New Mural on The Zarzaur Law Building.

Across the country, cities large and small are inspired to bring life to city walls with thoughtful color and design. Local artists have been turning city walls into huge public canvases and the results of their labor can have a lasting effect on the local community. Research has shown that murals provide social, cultural and economic benefits. Murals offer accessibility to art and creative expression without the cost and perceived barriers of traditional galleries or museums. Murals can act as a starting point that can lead to interest in seeing more work inside and outside of gallery spaces. In Pensacola, there has been an ongoing creative renaissance and two local artists wanted to contribute to the the growing excitement of murals in the area.

A more than nine month project came to life in March 2019 for artists Veronique Zayas of Hatchmark Studio and Somi Choi of idgroup. Their “Call for a Wall” project is a gift to the city. Zayas and Choi first announced the “Call for a Wall” on social media to find a Downtown Pensacola business with a wall that would serve as the canvas for a piece that would be a a point of interest and destination in downtown for both tourists and locals alike. Zarzaur Law, P.A. answered the call and offered up their wall for this locally focused and positive mural. Zarzaur Law, P.A., a personal injury law firm lead by Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer Joe Zarzaur, has always been a supporter of the arts and was honored to be chosen as the business and canvas for the mural.

The process took time since they were asking to paint on a historic downtown building, but approval by the Pensacola City Council provided the final steps in bringing the vision and mural to life.

The mural took 3 days to complete and truly ended up being even more beautiful than envisioned. Within the first 5 minutes of the mural’s completion people were lined up to take photos as well as selfies in front of the mural.

The welcoming message “Wish You Were Here” intertwined with the word Pensacola provides a postcard moment that everyone will be proud to share. The mural is planned to be on display for up to 12 months on The Zarzaur Law building at the corner of Palafox and Romana streets in Pensacola, Florida.
