Last month, following the tragic death of Mr. William Bryan on August 21, 2024—resulting from Dr. Shaknovsky’s catastrophic error in removing Mr. Bryan’s liver instead of his spleen during a splenectomy—the Florida Department of Health issued a detailed 21-page emergency order to suspend Dr. Shaknovsky’s medical license.
On October 24th, the Alabama Medical Licensure Commission, also known as the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners, followed suit by issuing an emergency suspension, also referred to as a summary suspension. These two states—Alabama and Florida—are the only ones where Dr. Shaknovsky held active medical licenses.
What is a Summary Suspension?
If there is conduct that the Board believes is dangerous to public safety, it may file formal allegations with the Commission and request restrictions, revocation, or other action against the physician’s license. Depending upon the urgency of the situation, the Board can request a summary suspension of the physician’s license until the case can be heard.
Thank you for your attention to this serious issue. Your support has been instrumental in ensuring that Dr. Shaknovsky can no longer practice medicine in the United States.

Mrs. Bryan hired Joe Zarzaur of Zarzaur Law, P.A. to get justice for her husband. She doesn’t want this doctor to continue treating patients. Mrs. Bryan is pushing both criminal and civil proceedings as she feels that “My husband died while helpless on the operating room table by Dr. Shaknovsky. I don’t want anyone else to die due to his incompetence at a hospital that should have known or knew he had previously made drastic, life-altering surgical mistakes.”
