The criminal investigation into Dr. Shaknovsky remains ongoing. Recently, the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) released a 47-page public report detailing their investigation into the events surrounding Mr. Bryan’s surgery, as well as the healthcare professionals involved.
If you or a loved one has been injured due to someone else’s negligence, contact us for a free case review. Zarzaur Law has helped multiple clients get justice in car accident, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and other personal injury cases.
The AHCA is responsible for overseeing hospitals to ensure compliance with both state regulations and internal hospital policies. The report highlights several violations at Ascension Sacred Heart, both internally and at the state level.
Specifically, it reveals that the hospital failed to follow its own protocols for supervising physicians who were on probation or operating under limited status.
One notable detail from the report includes a statement from a staff member at Ascension Sacred Heart, who remarked, “Everyone knows he’s not a good surgeon,” and added that they would not allow their own family members to be treated by Dr. Shaknovsky if he were on call.
We encourage anyone who has had negative experiences with Dr. Shaknovsky or possesses relevant information to come forward and contact our office.

Mrs. Bryan hired Joe Zarzaur of Zarzaur Law, P.A. to get justice for her husband. She doesn’t want this doctor to continue treating patients. Mrs. Bryan is pushing both criminal and civil proceedings as she feels that “My husband died while helpless on the operating room table by Dr. Shaknovsky. I don’t want anyone else to die due to his incompetence at a hospital that should have known or knew he had previously made drastic, life-altering surgical mistakes.”
